Choose Type if you have a company with departments and want the AI work those departments already do to be visible, shared and compounding, on the subscriptions your team already pays for.
Choose AEQI if the departments are the part that doesn’t exist yet — roles instead of Spaces, a ledger instead of a thread list, and a company that keeps working when nobody is in the workspace.
What Type is
Type launched publicly on 9 September 2026, describing itself, as of September 2026, as “a shared workspace for Claude and Codex.” It is built by the founders of Halp, the Slack-based helpdesk Atlassian acquired in 2020, on a $4M pre-seed from Lerer Hippeau, Haystack, Matchstick and executives at Slack, GitHub, Coinbase, Ramp and Replit. The unit of the product is a Space — in Type’s own words, “a shared computer for a department.” Marketing gets one, Support gets one; each runs Claude or Codex with the department’s tools connected, a memory, skills and automations, used from Slack, a Mac app or the web. Basic is $50 a month, Pro is $100, and Enterprise starts at $250.

Type is the better choice when
- You have a company with departments — marketing, support, growth, finance — and want the AI work each one does to be visible and shared, not stuck in private chats. Type's own launch post calls the number of agents a company has “a vanity metric” when they sit in individual silos, and its homepage promises “Spaces for getting things done, not managing agents.”
- Your team already pays for Claude Code or Codex subscriptions and wants to keep using them instead of a new metered plan — as of September 2026, connecting a personal subscription routes eligible requests and automations through it instead of shared credits, so a team that already pays twice for AI doesn’t pay a third time.
- You want AI reachable from Slack and a Mac app, inside the tools your team already lives in, with over 900 connectors and built-in scraping and media tools on top — built by a second-time Slack-native founding team that shipped Halp the same way.
AEQI is the better choice when
- The departments don’t exist yet — what you need is the company itself, not a faster version of a team you already have, before there is a Marketing team or a Support team to give a Space to.
- You want agents with named roles and their own authority, not one shared harness a department's people all use, and a quest ledger you can open, redirect or audit rather than a thread history generated from a team's chats.
- Memory should belong to the company, not to a Space or a person’s connected subscription, so it survives when people or agents change, rather than being keyed to whoever's account happened to run the automation.
- The work is more than department output: a website, billing, an inbox across five channels, and a server with your own name on it, in Germany, with EU data residency, plus a Decisions pane every agent must clear before it publishes, sends or pays.
